No-exam life insurance

Eligibility for expedited underwriting, how the process works, and what happens if you don't qualify.

Many insurers now provide expedited underwriting: qualified applicants within age and amount thresholds get decisions using your application, prescription data, driving records and other information instead of a physical exam. Decisions often arrive within a day. Each quote lists whether an exam is required, possibly needed, or unnecessary for that specific product.

What it changes

Fast underwriting still means real underwriting. Facts in your application are checked, and a policy based on mistakes can be challenged for two years after issuance. If the carrier's review surfaces questions, an exam or blood work may still be needed; the choice stays yours.

Who tends to qualify

Usually people under around 60 seeking amounts within the carrier's standard limits, with clean health history and no tobacco use in at least the past year. Recent lab work from a doctor's visit sometimes replaces an exam on the spot.

If an exam is needed, expect a 20- to 30-minute appointment with a paramedical technician at your Bellflower location—home or office—at zero cost. Exam results frequently move healthy people into better rate tiers, so it's not always a drawback.
